This movie is fun. It does not weight itself down with being a true tolife tale of hackers. The true life of hackers is a very boring one.The film lets itself go from the true world of hackers and we get abetter film in the long run. The cast gels together in a way that fewother films could hope for.Despite the films forays into sounding cool with techspeak which reallymakes no sense if you can suspend you dis-beliefs for a while you willfind this film immensely enjoyable. Even the hacker game against theFBI agent does have its basis in fact. A writer did challenge hackersthat they really could do nothing to hurt him and within 24 hours thewriter had no credit and was listed as dead to all the computers thatmatter. Still if you are looking for a film were you don’t have to think tomuch and you just want some good mindless fun, you could do worse thanwatching this film. It is worth a look for the young miss Jolie.

What can I say about this film? Well, for starters, IT WAS GREAT! Of course,there were some plot holes and things that could’ve been left out the finalcut, but it was just too good to let little things get out of the way. Thismovie still is a great topic of conversation between friends andmyself.The special effects were something to look at. Dozens of flying cars zoomingby in traffic hell, and when Willis dives through them it’s justspectacular. It was the best mid-air car chase I’d ever seen, and the scenewhere Leeloo is reconstructed from just DNA was an excellent way tointroduce a main character.And for the record, for all those people who think Chris Tucker’s character(Ruby Rode) was gay, I want to say that he wasn’t. I would guess that Bessonwas thinking of how so many things would change in 3 hundred years. Justthink now. There were no computers in the 1800’s. Hell, there wasn’t even atelephone (I don’t think, but if there was it wasn’t touch-tone).The haircuts were weird. So were the clothes. So were the rooms inside theapartments. But this came from the mind of a 13 year-old French boy inboarding school and revised into a movie. Besson’s got a good and creativeimagination. And if he is really helming the Tomb Raider movie, I’m sureit’ll just add to the list.

The Fifth Element is my favorite movie in the world, & Bruce Willis is myfavorite actor. It is not only funny, it had me on the edge of myseat.

B.R. Chopra’s Insaaf Ka Tarazu is a gripping, thrilling and brutallyhonest story of rape and injustice. Chopra’s direction is great, andthe script is very well written and disturbingly real in its depictionof the subject matter, an issue which has always been a taboo in aconservative society like that of India but which is also inevitablyrelevant. Zeenat Aman plays Bharti, a young hot model who lives withher young sister, a schoolgirl named Neeta, in Bombay. Bharti getsraped by one of her die-hard fans, namely Mahesh. Bharti seeks justicein court but fails to prove his guilt given the lack of evidences, andhe is exonerated. A frustrated and deeply hurt Bharti loses her job,separates from her fiancГ©e Ashok and finds a new job as a typist inPune. Two years pass by, Bharti’s sister is now a more grown girl whogoes for a job interview as a secretary, where the manager is noneother than Mahesh. And history repeats itself.Insaaf Ka Tarazu is poignantly unsettling and the courtroom scenes areeffective. Chopra portrays the rape scenes in an incredibly realisticway, all the more so for those times. If the first scene shocks youwith its authentic brutality, the second one will leave you wordlesslydisturbed. It is sad to know how helpless a woman can be and even moresad that no one can come to her rescue.

I have always been intrigued by this film, mostly because of the fantasy itsuggests, and even obtained a VHS copy to look it over more closely. Usingthe leads posted by other readers, I have been able to glean the followingfacts from various Internet and library resources concerning the strangetale of The Mad Trapper of Rat River, played in Death Hunt by CharlesBronson;a] A man referring to himself as Albert Johnson [identified post mortem byassociates as Albert Nelson, although that was also an assumed name] arrivedin the Aklavik area and brought attention onto himself from a large purchaseof ammunition, a new shotgun, and an inexplicable refusal to get himself atrapper’s license. Johnson ran afoul of a Constable Edgar Millen [LeeMarvin’s character] during the New Years season of 1931-32 after hisapparent meddlings with the traps of some of the local types, who suggestedthat he had gone bonkers in the isolation of the mountains. b] Two posses did in fact make seperate trips to Johnson’s handmade cabin[measuring 8 feet by 8 feet] and one of the Mounties did in fact have abrief encounter with Johnson through an open window; The first time hesimply wouldn’t answer their knocks, and the second time he shot a Mountiethrough his closed door with a .38 automatic. A third posse, with Const.Millens, then made the 80 mile dogsled trip and blew up Johnson’s cabinafter he again refused to acknowledge them.

ALICE is the kind of movie they made in the 30’s and 40’s. Never attemptsto be an “event”. Just wants to entertain. And it does. I was surprisedby Kiefer Sutherland. In a role that could be a cliche, he made it real.The plot does make allusions to ALICE IN WONDERLAND. A guy dressed in whitedoes go through a hole and Kiefer does fall down one. Like ALICE the plotdoes twist and turn, but with a freshness you don’t see in small movies. Iloved the direction, Sutherland, just a very fast paced and interestingmovie.

What About movie – While attending a conference in Quebec City, Sherlock Holmes and his good friend Dr. Watson are drawn into a murder investigation in the nearby village of La Mort Rouge. Holmes had received a letter from Lady Penrose asking for his assistance as she feared for her life. It was too late however as she had already been killed by the time he received it. Her throat was torn out and the local villagers are spreading rumors about monsters and evil spirits as being the cause. Holmes doesn’t believe any of that and sets out to find the killer. He believes that Lady Penrose’s past as an actress may have something to with her death. As others in the village are attacked, Holmes believes the killer is among them, impersonating a local villager as he goes about his business.

Atmospheric, well-cast and much different from its brethren, The ScarletClaw looks and feels more like a classic late Universal horror film thananyof the other Holmes movies. Spoilers follow.The concept of a murder mystery where the killer turns out to be one personbehind many faces is always entertaining and it is well-done here. Thisfilm is interesting too because, more than any other Holmes film I know inany series, Holmes fails repeatedly — to stop the killer and even toapprehend him at the end. It is far different in that respect from thetraditional Holmes tale, where Holmes is always at least one step ahead ofhis adversary. Finally, the years have lent the story a touch ofunintended, grim humor. One of the elements the story uses to divertsuspicion away from the killer’s main identity is the idea that no onewouldever suspect a postman of violent crime. Times change.

I’m in Italy, the pope just died this weekend (April 2005) so ItalianTV showed ‘From A Far Country’ late last night. I’m not remotelyinterested in the pope, and I’m not Italian, so I couldn’t understandthe dubbing, but I nevertheless stayed riveted to this movie because ofthe stunning cinematography and subtle special effects that gave theimages such an extraordinarily documentarily accurate and overwhelmingsense of period time and place. From the apparent ages of the principalactors (Sam Neill, Chris Cazenove etc) I was able to guess that themovie was made in the early eighties, though the clever period look ofthe film and its imaging effects suggested 21st century digitalprocesses, so it was a real puzzle to me who had made it, perhaps someclassy 80’s director like Hugh Hudson, with a 2005 makeover from ILM,or perhaps the guy who shot Schindler’s List, or even Edgar Reitz. Butno, turns out it was all the work of some Polish director I’d neverheard of. Bravo Krzysztof Zanussi! Anyone interested in making period,historical movies of ostensibly dry subjects should definitely takenotes from this guy. Even the back-projected Vatican crowd sequenceabout halfway through, although looking obviously fake, is neverthelessso well done that one suspends not only disbelief, but also criticism.

The Murders in the Rue Morgue follows the story of Dr. Mirakle, atraveling carnival worker and mad scientist who is carrying out somepoorly specified experiments wherein he injects the blood of apes intoyoung women. The only problem is that they keep dying. A medicalstudent, Pierre Dupin, discovers what Mirakle is doing when he examinesthe bodies of the deceased but too late, finds that his girlfriendCamille is to be Mirakle’s next victim.There are some good scenes in this movie and some nice Gothic settings.I found the “bondage” scenes and dumping the bodies through a trap doorinto the river to be especially chilling in this film. And there weremoments of humor as well. But overall, I didn’t find this to be anexceptional film. It was okay, but really doesn’t shine when it comesto the old Universal horrors.Bela Lugosi did a fine performance, but far from his best and the restof the acting was just mediocre. The story was a bit too vague andundeveloped to really hold one’s attention, though the sets weredecent.Worth a watch for fans of older horror but don’t expect anything toospecial here.

Then, when I saw the preview for “Bad Company,”starring Chris Rock and Sir Anthony Hopkins, I thought to myself, “This isgonna be a big hit! I’m definitely gonna see it.” But, Joel Schumacher’sdirecting it. Yes movie buffs, he’s the same man who directed the 1997 dud”Batman & Robin.” But, cut him some slack. I loved “Batman & Robin” and Iloved “Bad Company.” It was a fast-paced entertainmentfilm.The story begins in the Czech Republic with 2 CIA agents Kevin Pope andGaylord Oakes (played by Rock and Hopkins) about to make a deal with aterrorist named Adrik Vas (Peter Stormare).

I just got back from seeing Bad Boys 2 and it was the coolest move ever. Ithad so much action in it topped off with comedy. For a 2 and 1/2 hour movieit didn’t seem that long at all. I loved that it didn’t have a whole lotCGI effects in it. I liked how they actually destroyed the cars and howthey really blew up that mansion, no fake model stuff. This was just ascool as the first movie was but a little bit better and cooler. I don’tknow how the critics in different areas rated the movie but the ones in myarea only gave it 1 and a half stars. I think it deserves at lease 3 and ahalf to 4 stars. I can’t what for this movie to hit DVD I be there to getit definitely the first day it hits shelves. If you haven’t go and see thisBAD movie.
